Portuguese (Brazil) At the end of 2009, Clearsy and its partner in Brazil, AeS, signed a contract for the development, delivery and installation of the SIL3 COPPILOT security system. It will be responsible for controlling the opening and closing of future platform screen doors on lines 2 and 3 of the Sao Paulo metro network.
This version of the COPPILOT system is based on the detection of train doors opening and closing via a Laser sensor, as well as the detection of iron wheels via a magnetic sensor (DRF). An automaton analyses the data transmitted by the various sensors and sends the SIL3 security commands for opening and closing to the system controlling the platform screens doors.
- Laser sensor:
Two sensors are set out either side of the metro platform and are integrated in the platform screens in such a way as to observe the arrival of the train, and observe the movements of the train door once it is at a standstill. The data transmitted by the sensors is analysed by signal processing software, capable of configuring itself according to the train types (7 different trains). - Iron Wheel Detector (DRF):
Two sensors are fixed against the track. An impulse is transmitted by the sensor each time a wheel passes over the sensor. This data is analysed by software so as to study the train’s movements and its position along the platform.
The Laser signal processing software, the software for counting axles and the security control logic have been developed and fine-tuned in the laboratory, together with the assistance of a simulator. It is based on operation data from the Villa Matilde test station on the Sao Paulo metro. It’s worth reminding ourselves that the Coppilot system guarantees that the opening of screen doors can only take place when a train is well positioned and at a standstill alongside the platform. This guarantee ranks as level SIL 3 of the EN61508 standard.
